Central and East Borneo Tour is one of the best adventurous tours or excursions that travelers need to consider for an excellent vacation in Borneo. This tour will take travelers to Tanjung Puting National Park in Central Borneo and Kutai National Park in East Boerneo. These two National Parks are home to exotic animals such as Orangutans, gibbons, proboscis monkey, crocodile, and many bird species. This trip is a private boat trip with English speaking tour guide. Alternatively, the specific foreign languages are also available upon request.
This Central and East Borneo Tour is a combination of air, land and river transportation. Furthermore, the land- and sea transportations are inclusive in the tour package, but the domestic flights are booked upon request. Of course, it needs an extra payment when you let us help you to book a domestic flight for you. The minimal participants in the group are two persons.

The best time for this tour is in the dry season between May and Oktober. Normally, there are many Orangutans to see in this period. Meanwhile, in the rainy season there are not many Orangutans that come to the feeding station, because there are plenty of fruits in the jungle.

Day 1: Departure from Jakarta-Pangkalan Bun
Picked up at the hotel at 04:00 am, then transfer to Sukarno Hatta Airport. Depart for Pangkalan Bun with domestic flight. Meet your tour guide at Pankalan Bun airport, then transfer to Kumai River approximately 30 minutes. A local traditional Boat called “Klotok” will pick you up at the pier of Kumai, then enjoy your boat trip to the south through Kumai River approximately 30 minutes, then turn left heading to Sekonyer River. Sekonyer is a smaller river that flows through the national park of Tanjung Puting. Along the Sekonyer River you will enjoy the beautiful view through the Nipa palm until the trip enters the forest. Then please be ready with your camera, because there are many proboscis monkeys on the trees along the riverbanks, sometimes you can see also the tropical birds, crocodile, and the sun bear. In the late afternoon arrive in Pesalat. Dinner and overnight on the boat.

Day 2: Pesalat Camp
Today your trip starts with a visit to Pesalat camp, a former rehabilitation place of orangutans. Enjoy trekking through the rainforest approximately 1, 5 hours to visit the Pesalat camp. During feeding from 09:00 am – 10:00 am you will see the orangutans that dominate the territory. After that back to the river. Your boat trip continues to Camp Leakey through the black river. This small river flows through the huge rainforest in the heart of Tanjung Puting national park. The tall trees along the river sides will give you a fresh shade in the hot day. Stop at the small port of the black river, then go trekking through the forest until you arrive at Camp Leakey before the feeding time at 14:00 pm. During the feeding time you can see the wild Orangutans, warthogs and lemur coming out from the forest for the food, meanwhile you can hear the sweet-sounding voice of the hornbills and other tropical birds in the calm and peaceful forest. After the feeding time, back to the boat, then continue through Sekonyer River to Pondok Tanggui. Dinner and overnight on your boat.

Day 3: Pondok Tanggui and Tanjung Harapan
On the third’s day you will discover the Orangutans in Pondok Tanggui and Tanjung Harapan. After breakfast enjoy your morning trip boating through the calm and peaceful forest from Camp Leakey to Pondok Tanggui. Then, take an easy walk to Pondok Tanggui camp to visit the Orangutan feeding at 09:00 am. After that enjoy your boat trip to visit Tanjung Harapan village. Lunch will be provided on board. At 15:00 pm visit Tanjung Harapan Camp to see the last Orangutans feeding. Then continue by boat to Nipa Palm where you can enjoy your beautiful evening with thousands of fireflies at the river bank. Dinner and overnight on the boat there.

Day 4: Nipa palm -Pangkalan Bun - Surabaya
The boat trip starts before the daybreak heading for Kumai. It takes approximately 1, 5 hours. Meet your driver at Kumai, then transfer to Pangkalan Bun airport approximately 30 minutes. After that, depart for Juanda Airport, Surabaya. Upon arrival, our driver will meet you, then transfer to your hotel in Surabaya.

Day 5: Surabaya-Balikpapan-Sangatta
Picked up from the hotel in Surabaya and transfer to the airport. After that enjoy 1, 5 hours flight from Surabaya to Balikpapan. Upon arrival at the airport in Balikpapan, our assigned tour guide will meet you. Next, transfer in a comfortable car about 6 hours to Sangatta. Check in at a simple hotel there. Dinner and overnight also at the same place.

Day 6: Sangatta - Kutai National Park
Wake up in the early morning, then enjoy a canoe trip upstream Sangatta river into the jungle of Kutai National Park Reserve. Upon arrival at prefab Orangutan research station, we leave our stuffs at the accommodation. Then, go for a trek into the forest to see the wild Orangutans. After that back to the Prefab for lunch. In the afternoon enjoy another trek into the jungle to discover the beautiful nature, with its flora and fauna. Dinner and overnight at the prefab research station.

Day 7: Kutai - Delta Sangatta River
Picked up from the Prefab Research Station in the early morning. Then, enjoy a canoe trip into the mangrove forest to see the wild animals such as proboscis monkeys, birds, crocodiles, and other wild creatures. After that, back to Sangatta for lunch. In the afternoon transfer by car to Samarinda. Check in for overnight and dinner at the booked hotel there.

Day 8: Samarinda - Balikpapan - Surabaya - Bali
In the morning, enjoy your time at the hotel. After that our driver comes to pick you up. Then, transfer by car to Balikpapan airport. Check in for a one-hour flight to Surabaya. Upon arrival in Surabaya, check in for the next flight about 1 hour to Denpasar-Bali. Our Driver will meet you upon arrival at Ngurah Rai airport Bali, the transfer to your booked hotel.
