Batur mount is an active volcano, even though the trekking activity is still open for visitors. The trekking activity is done during the nighttime which enables travelers to see the spectacular sunrise at the mountain top.

The trekking takes time only 2 hours, even though it needs a good condition physically.

Departure in the early morning

Your assigned guide and driver will pick you up at the hotel. Then, drive a long way in the dark night to the parking lot that located at the food of Batur mount. Upon arrival at the parking lot, the trekking guide will meet you and prepare you for the trekking.

Trekking Time

Hiking to the top of mount Batur can take time approximately 2 hours depending on travelers walking pace. Firstly, take an easy walk through the eucalyptus forest, then followed by hiking the steep mount. For people who are not fit enough to hike, no worries. There is an alternative choice. The local people offer a ride on a sport bike to reach at least 70 % of the way up the mountain. But please negotiate the price before you go, that you have no dispute about the price after the tour.

Jacket for the cold temperature at the mountain top

The temperature in the morning at the volcano is quite cold. A jacket and changing clothes are important to take with, because the clothes get wet from sweat. While waiting for the sunrise, your guide will put the banana in the hot steam coming out from a small cavity at the rim of the volcano. The, take breakfast, while enjoying the spectacular sunrise. After that, back to the parking lot. Continue to the south with some stops on the way.

Stop at spices garden

Visit the spices garden at Kayuambua. You can try the most expensive and exotic coffee in the world called “Luwak Coffee”. It is a poo of the mongoose. Firstly, these animals eat the best coffee cherry. After that they leave the poo behind. The farmers collect the poo which are coffee bins. Wash them and dry under hot sunlight for about 2 days until the outer layer of the coffee bins broken. After pounding in the coffee machine, the coffee bins are now without outer layer. Then, roasted to make powder.

Stop at Tegalalang Rice-Terraces

Next, stop in Tegalalang and discover one of the most beautiful rice-terraces in Bali. After that, back to the hotel. Arrival at the hotel between 02:00-03:00 pm.
