North Sumatera Active Tour 10 Days

North Sumatera Active Tour is one of the most recommended tours or trips for an excellent vacation in North Sumatera. After that, transfer in a comfortable mini coach to Bukit Lawang, the starting point of your 10-day North Sumatera journey.

The best time for North Sumatera Active Tour is in the dry season from May to September, but so far, we have done many tours within the rainy season, and we had always a good luck with the weather. Please don’t forget to bring a good camera with enough memory space, because there are many things to see.

Day 1: Kualanamu – Bukit Lawang

Pick up by our tour guide from Kualanamu North Sumatera Airport, then transfer by comfortable vehicle to Bukit Lawang. It takes about 3 to 4 hours. We will stop along the way for petrol and other necessities until we arrive at the hotel.

Day 2: Tangkahan Tour (Elephant Washing)

This trip takes approximately 4. 5 hours round trip. We will drive past the palm oil plantation to get to know these typical trees and to enjoy the beautiful panorama of the area. Once we arrive in Tangakahan, we prepare to take part in the washing of the elephants. Make sure you change your clothes because at some moments the elephants will throw water on you. After that we follow the elephant at feeding time and can see how conservation is going there. After completing the tour, we will prepare for the return trip to Bukit Lawang in the afternoon.

Day 3: Orangutan Trip Overnight stay in the jungle (2D/ 1N)

First, for this activity we need to bring:

Change of clothes
Sneakers
Bug spray, sunscreen
Toiletries, towel
Headlamp (if there is one)
5 liters of mineral water per person for the first day.

First day in the jungle: It will be a challenging activity as we will walk about 7 hours to explore the Leuser National Park. Attention! Please be calm and relaxed whenever we meet with the orangutans or other endemic animals in the jungle. During the trek we will take some breaks while we can enjoy the fresh fruit salad ala Jungle and lunch like Nasi Goreng and there you can ask questions about the trip until we arrive at the campsite at Bahorok River. Once we arrive at the campsite, our team will serve you coffee or tea as a welcome drink and they will provide our stay like a tent, mattress, mosquito nets, food during our stay, etc.

Day 4: Second day in the jungle

After breakfast we will take a little walk to reach the waterfall to relax and then swim in the Bahorok river for a moment and then we will go back to our tent to to pack our things before we go rafting Down the river back to the hotel we will have our lunch and fresh fruit salad ala Jungle.

Day 5: Karo Highland Tour

After breakfast, check out of the hotel. Then enjoy an interesting long drive about 5 hours from Bukit Lawang to Berastagi to Karo Highland which is named as Batak Karo Cultural Center followed by visiting the famous colorful Berastagi Fruit Market. After that, let’s visit Gundaling Hill. In the late afternoon check in at the booked hotel.

Day 6: Volcano sunrise tour

Sunrise hike to Sibayak Volcano with panoramic views, followed by a relaxing stop at a hot spring. Pick up is at 04:30 am, then departure to the volcano about 30 minutes to the parking lot. From there it goes up about 1.5 hours to the viewpoint of Gunung Sibayak. Enjoy your time there to see the spectacular sunrise and beautiful landscapes around. At 10:00 am you will come back to the hotel for the shower and breakfast. At 12:00 you will be picked up and departure towards Karo highland to visit Batak Karo traditional village and Sipiso-Piso waterfall.

Day 7: Today Is Free Time

Relax and just enjoy the beautiful scenery of Samosir Island. There are also the traditional Batak dances at the cultural center in Simanindo and the historical residence of the Batak kings in Ambarita. Overnight stay in the booked hotel on Samosir.

Day 8: Half day tour around Samosir

With a comfortable vehicle you will visit the island. Experience an unspoiled part of the island overlooking the highlands of Lake Toba. Get to know the lifestyle of the people in a traditional Batak Toba village. Continue to Parhalow. There you will enjoy a nice coffee break with a breathtaking panoramic view of Lake Toba. Back to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at the hotel.

Day 9: Samosir - Prapat - Medan

After breakfast you will be picked up and transferred to Prapat. A comfortable vehicle will pick you up in Prapat, then enjoy a long drive about 4 hours from Prapat to Medan. Lunch will be prepared at a local restaurant along the way. Overnight in the booked hotel in Medan, the capital of North Sulawesi province.

Day 10: Kualanamu - Jakarta - Bali - Transfer to the hotel in southern Bali

You get up very early today. Check out from the hotel and depart by comfortable vehicle to Kualanamu Airport. Then enjoy approximately 2 hours flight from Kualanamu to Jakarta and continue flight approximately 2 hours to Bali. Upon arrival in Bali, you will be transferred to your booked hotel in southern Bali.
